Orletta and Girl Paddle

I think it's been months since I posted anything worthy of note. My runs have been the usual suspects around the PDX scene and within a cool hour's drive from Timothy or he has been hanging out at the take out with a friend charming all the passerbys.

This weekend was the annual PDX Girl Paddle and I love to contribute. It helps the community of ladies know that there are a healthy number of women paddlers in the area and all we need is to connect to boat, step up or give back. 30+ women joined the annual run in differnet stages and this year we had an unofficial Pre GP down the Orletta section of the White Salmon. This is the last 2 miles or so of the Truss run just below Lower Zig Zag. The run is the most challenging run I have been on since giving birth to Timothy and Kate Wagner buddied up with me to make sure I felt comfortable on the rapids. She had solid lines and I followed suit.

It's pretty cool to come off the run without getting my hair wet! And it was awesome to boat with Kate. It had been a very long time!

I participated in the Middle White Salmon portion of the Girl Paddle and we had a solid group of women within our pod. Everyone was comfortable on the run and we all ran Husum at the end. I happened to look up to see my friend Jessie holding Timothy at the bridge waiting to see us plop over the falls.

I jumped out after watching a few Husum hucks and arrived in time to wake Timothy and give him kisses.

Thank the ladies at Girl Paddle for the great day on the river. It feels wonderful to be sore in all the right paddling places!

Love and Light
